Let me introduce myself

A Few Words About Me

I consider myself an Adlerian Psychologist and use techniques to help neutralize self-defeating patterns. The techniques I employ the most are Neuro-Emotional Technique, which I have used for over 26 years and Emotional Freedom Technique, which I have used for over 16 years. I am a member of The Gary Craig Optimal EFT Course.

Happiness is the Goal

NET procedures will be explained in the first or second session (depending on what needs to be discussed by the questions you ask in the first session). EFT will be utilized during sessions when needed.  You will also be taught some stress relieving techniques that can help you keep from being caught in those negative beliefs when you are not in session.

It is not about right or wrong…

Moving Forward

Many people think that in order to see a psychotherapist, there must be something wrong with them.  On the contrary, it is not about right or wrong, it is about what works in their lives and what doesn’t; what moves them forward toward happiness and what slows them down or gets in the way.

Coloradans like to boasts that there are 360 days of sunshine…

Happiness

…when in truth the sun shines everyday, even if we don’t see it.

Think of happiness as the sun. Happiness, like the sun, is always there, but because of the decisions we make about ourselves, life and the world, we develop beliefs that interfere with our happiness because that is what we focus on and it makes true the saying, what you focus on expands.  Most times, these beliefs create patterns and they are usually developed when we are young and influenced by others. (Choices).  Happiness is not a result of wealth, or health, or a great relationship, etc, rather all these things come when you are happy, or at least happier than you are now.

There is much written about making choices in your life. 

Choices

Making choices that forward your movement in life may be more difficult if you keep repeating the same negative patterns.  Have you ever know someone who has declared that all the people they go out with are the same.  A few things may be happening.  They may not, because of their patterns, be able to see anything other that the same issue in each relationship.  Or, they may be attracting the same type of person because  they believe that that is all there is out there.  There may be other reasons, but these can be used as example.

Write down a goal as a positive statement…

Action Step

If you are not sure that you would benefit from being a client here, write down a goal/issue (it can be in business, relationships, family, or anything else that you feel would benefit you).  Write it as a positive statement and then immediately write the next thoughts you have, and the next and the next, until you have no other thoughts about the issue.  If all the statements are positive, there is nothing to do concerning this goal/issue.  If on the other hand, the statements are negative, or filled with doubts or yea-buts, then these thoughts/beliefs are getting in the way of your happiness.  For the purpose of this explanation, we need to remember that beliefs give rise to your thoughts and patterns and to neutralize the negative beliefs, will transform your beliefs and free you from your patterns.  Depending on how powerful they are, will determine how much the interfere with your happiness. 

Determine how quickly beliefs are neutralized…

Intensity

Think of these negative thoughts as a dog.  If you have a small dog and take it for a walk, you have to stop every now and again but that doesn’t create much of a problem.  If however you have a large dog, it may be similar to a woman I saw walking a Great Dane.  She was about 5’6” with a slight build and the dog was pulling her along.  I asked her who was walking whom, she laughed and said she didn’t know.  If your negative thoughts are pulling you along, then you are not going where you want but rather where they are taking you.  Intensity will also help determine how quickly beliefs are neutralized and how much work needs to be done.

Stress relieving techniques…
